Building on their already impressive range of car seats, the Recaro Mako Elite 2 Select i-Size Car Seat will see your child through from 100cm (usually around 4 years old) right through to when they no longer need a child car seat. Firstly, the Mako Elite 2 has been tested to the stringent R129 safety standards; in fact, not only has it met these requirements, it has exceeded them! The seat is also classed as i-Size, this means if you have an i-Size certified car this seat will fit, but if your car has Isofix connectors it will likely fit. The Isofix connectors give extra stability to the seat, while also keeping in place when your child is not in the seat – an unsecured car seat can cause injury to a front passenger or driver in the event of a crash.

Now we’ll talk about the bit your kid will really enjoy, but so will you!! Built into the headrest of the seat is an integrated speaker as well as a place to connect an MP3 player so your little one can listen to their own choice of music, whether that be baby shark or the latest chart hits, which means mum or dad can listen to their own choice of music for a change – everyone’s happy!! The headrest has been slightly redesigned for the updated version of the Mako Elite 2 and means your little one is both comfortable as well as safe.

The height-adjustable backrest means your little one is both comfortable as well as safe, as the optimised seatbelt guide in the headrest helps to ensure the belt is in the correct place. The backrest is ergonomically designed to support a healthy posture. There are padded wings at shoulder height that adjust with the backrest too to give even more comfort.

Moving onto the actual seating area itself, this has foam that adapts to your child’s body shape to give them the highest levels of comfort and there is even an extendable leg rest, it pulls out from under the seat and will provide optimal support as they grow.

To keep them thermally comfortable while they are travelling, the seat also has built-in ventilation in the back of the seat and mesh linings in the covers to provide airflow.

Recaro have also included their detachable Advanced Side Protection (ASP). This ASP, when installed on the side of the car seat nearest the door, helps to absorb forces in the event of a side-impact collision, reducing the forces on your child. As this ASP is detachable, it allows for 3 seats to sit side by side in the rear seats of some cars.

There is only a requirement in the UK for children to use a child restraint system until they are 12 years old or 135 whichever comes first – however keeping in a car set longer will still provide extra protection, so the Mako Elite 2 will fit children all the way up to 150cm which is line with counties in mainland Europe.
